Xiamen International Design Week – Red Dot in China 2016
From 29 October until 1 November 2016, Red Dot brings the world of design to the International Conference and Exhibition Center of the South-East-Chinese metropolis Xiamen: For the fifth time in a row, Red Dot is the major partner and trade fair organiser of the Xiamen International Design Week (XIDW). Red Dot has been hosting the trade fair for premium products since 2012. With 300,000 visitors in 2015 alone, it has become an important platform for manufacturers and designers in the Asia-Pacific region.
The XIDW offers product exhibitions, conversations on design as well as the seminar programme “Red Dot Academy”. Furthermore, in the course of the fair, the yearly competition “China Good Design” takes place in cooperation with the Xiamen Media Group. It aims to make well-designed products of Chinese and international companies visible on the Asian market and to award their quality.
The four-day event will be filled with business networking, best practice examples and knowledge transfer on the global design scene. Centre of attraction will be the Red Dot exhibition, a selection of products which received a distinction in the Red Dot Award. This hub will be surrounded by booths from design agencies, designers and manufacturers from all over the world. They benefit from exclusive spaces to display their design excellence, while, as an attractive framework, the Red Dot Academy and design authorities as its lecturers provide insights: Among others, Hideshi Hamaguchi, inventor of the USB flash drive, will speak to the attendees. At a close-by exhibition, visitors can furthermore get in touch with nominees, jurors and winners of China Good Design.
