Estelle Burton

Estelle Burton is a UK-based jewellery designer whose interdisciplinary, research-led practice combines industrial craft processes with traditional fine jewellery techniques, focusing on sustainability and material innovation through cross-disciplinary collaboration. 

She holds an MA in Jewellery Design from Central Saint Martins, where her research explored the creative reuse of reclaimed scientific glass in jewellery and object design. Going on to receive professional recognition, including being shortlisted for the LVMH Maison/0 and MullenLowe awards, acceptance onto the Goldsmiths’ Centre programme in London’s Jewellery Quarter, and receiving the Society of Glass Technology’s Oldfield Award in 2024 for academic research into glass innovation that challenges conventional hierarchies of material value. 

Estelle has exhibited widely, including at Venice Glass Week, London Craft Week, and New Designers, and represented the UK at the Cultural Creative & Industry Expo in China during 2024. Alongside her academic and creative practice, Burton also brings senior-level experience from a 25-year career in brand, design, and communications. Having worked for global agencies within the WPP Group and client-side roles within Shell International’s brand and communications team. 

She currently lectures on the BA Craft and Design programme at UCH, in the UK, supporting emerging practitioners in developing critically engaged and environmentally responsible creative practices. And serves on the Editorial Board of Jewellery History Today, the publication of the Society of Jewellery Historians, working in association with the British Museum.
