The Extra Mile to Perfection

The Pareto principle states that around 80 per cent of a result is achieved with 20 per cent of the total effort, while the last 20 per cent requires 80 per cent of the work. Those who want to achieve perfection must therefore not only go all the way, but also go the extra mile. The Aesculap SQ.line Clip Applier platform is the result of precisely this attitude – the result of a development and design process that was conceived and consistently pursued from the inside out. The focus was on the development of ergonomic, precise clip appliers for laparoscopy – instruments that have to guarantee reliability and precise handling. This is how the technical core was created: a mechanism that is uncompromisingly designed for durability and precision. At the same time, the designers’ task was to make the functional instruments intuitive and comfortable to use. A solid handle with a generous contact surface was developed for optimum ergonomics. It is suitable for a wide range of hand sizes, specifically reduces pressure points, ensures clear guidance and supports balanced kinematics. The choice of materials also follows the principle of uncompromising quality: stainless steel and PEEK ensure robustness, a long service life and tactile precision that is retained even after intensive use. The feedback during surgery, the characteristic click of the handle and shaft – everything is designed to ensure that the instrument blends in with natural movement. The modular system reduces surgical complexity: a single handle can be combined with all common shaft types. Colour coding and an intuitive locking principle support safe and efficient handling at all times. The jury was impressed: “The Aesculap SQ.line Clip Appliers impress with their perfect material quality, ergonomics and functionality. Mechanical stability, tactile feedback and a minimalist, functional design merge in such a way that the instrument is experienced as a natural extension of the hand. The manufacturing quality, consistent ergonomics and attention to detail set high standards for surgical instruments.” Perfect tools do not require attention. They simply fulfil their purpose – precisely, reliably, naturally.
