The Al Hajar Water Family set is made of a special ceramic whose components are extracted from the Hijaz region of western Saudi Arabia. The material conveys the importance of water in the Arabian Desert, using subtle hues, textures and ribbed forms to reflect the erosion of sedimentary rock in this arid landscape, where heat and wind are the driving forces. The ceramics are produced using a high-precision 3D-printing process. “The aesthetic strikes a balance between the ceramic heritage of the Hijaz region and the manufacturing method, for which unique colour and clay gradations are mixed for each object. As a result, each piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art,” was the jury’s verdict.
