ASHA - Monitoring low birth weight babies in rural India.

Back Download

With almost 70% of the Indian population living in the rural areas, each year, about 7.8 million babies are born with low birth weight (under 2.5kg), resulting in a 20% infant mortality rate. ASHA combines a low maintenance solar-powered digital weighing scale, a built-in non-touch infrared thermometer and a personal weighing blanket in a single device. Measurements are noted down and documented directly on the blanket. This simple but innovative solution will not only help reduce infant mortality rate but also give credibility to the ASHA’s in their important task of ensuring on time care.
