Blue Lake-Lakeside Teahouse

The Blue Lake-Lakeside Teahouse was already built a decade ago, but its unique location required a redesign. As the building is lower than its surroundings, it seemed to be sinking into the ground. Therefore, the outdoor area was extended by 4 meters all around and complemented with a terrace. Five new, floor-to-ceiling windows give the interiors more brightness now. Furthermore, almost all interior walls were removed for a more airy room feeling, and part of the roof was glazed.

Statement by the Jury

With a keen sense for the character of the Blue Lake-Lakeside Teahouse, it was carefully but extremely effectively redesigned. The detailed solutions are impressive.
