Smart home concepts also enable the integration of digital media into everyday life. Thus, they can enrich existing living environments by creating new interaction and experience scenarios. PAI has been conceived for applications that are oriented towards the needs and preferences of users, offering a high degree of functionality and user comfort. This smart kitchen projector can be mounted underneath the kitchen wall cabinet or directly onto the wall, projecting a fully-fledged GUI on the kitchen worktop. A bright and high-contrast projection in combination with an integrated 3D sensor then “transforms” the kitchen worktop into a smart display. The real benefit during cooking and baking is that the interface can also be tapped or swiped with wet or sticky fingers. The device gives users the option not only to easily access their favourite apps and digital services while cooking, they can also get inspiration from new recipes, operate other smart-connected home appliances or simply surf on the internet, to name just a few possibilities. This projector lends itself well for use in the kitchen. Although at first glance it is reminiscent of a simple tablet, its functionality has been adapted to the special conditions in the kitchen environment, including increased humidity and oil splashes. The device thus offers new digital kitchen experiences by turning into a very helpful smart kitchen assistant.
Statement by the Jury
This smart kitchen projector enables inspiring new types of interaction and an extensive integration of digital media into the kitchen work area. Based on a well-thought-out design, it is as elegant as it is easy to clean and perfectly adapted to kitchen counter environments. Considerably larger than a familiar interface, it is convenient and easy to operate – with ample, flexible and versatile possibilities of use.
