Today, attempts are made to preserve the tooth substance for as long as possible and to crown or bridge individual teeth – with customised dentures. These are produced using dental milling machines such as the compact DS1. When designing a new machine, the biggest challenge was to make the interaction between man and machine as seamless as possible, which is why the designers not only focused on the design and improvement of the primary use, but also took into account everything that happens before and after the actual fulfilment of the task by the machine. The result is a milling machine that is easy to operate thanks to its clear and intuitive structure, simplifies complex processing in dental laboratories and offers accessories for preparation and post-processing. In terms of its appearance, the DS1 impresses with its monolithic shape, clear, dynamic lines and striking two-colour surface design. The front part is tilted slightly backwards for ergonomic reasons, while access to the milling chamber, the heart of the machine, is maximised to increase user comfort. The graphical user interface has been carefully designed to streamline main operations and guide users safely through all processes using clear graphics. The milling chamber itself has a monobloc structure to improve stability and reduce vibration. In addition, waste produced during the milling process is extracted directly via the central suction hole in the base. “This advanced dental milling machine stands out on the market thanks to its exceptional integration of design, technology and innovation,” said the jury. “The DS1 optimises the user experience at every processing step through user-centred innovations and excellent user guidance. By simplifying workflows, it increases efficiency and comfort in the dental laboratory and radically transforms the user experience.”
