DynamiCity GenType

Society has been transformed into a digital information-driven network containing rapidly changing data. To visualise this, the designer used software to create the generative typography for the first HK-SZ Design Biennale “DynamiCity”. The GenType motion-typefaces visualise the urban dynamics between Hong Kong (HK) and Shenzhen (SZ), with each typeface representing a specific social issue. The generative forms follow different mathematical algorithms. For example, the modules of the letter “D” are more packed and feature a higher density value, which was calculated by a molecular formula using population density.
