Classical cutlery, consisting of knives, forks and spoons, comes in many different shapes and looks. Filigree, almost delicate-looking cutlery designs can be found right next to minimalist creations of formal austerity. The design of the EDA cutlery is inspired by the natural shape of a tree with branches and twigs lending it a highly organic appearance. The prongs of the fork seem to extend like branches from the trunk of a tree and all pieces of the cutlery set share the same twig-like patterns. The aim behind this branch motif form was to bring a high degree of the feeling of naturalism to the daily table. The EDA cutlery is made of premium-grade stainless steel. However, featuring a tree-like brown colour and when laid out on the table, the cutlery at first sight creates the impression of an artistic arrangement of organic elements collected from nature. Another outstanding feature of this cutlery is how its organic appearance consistently embodies the guiding design principle of asymmetry. All elements are harmoniously proportioned and feature lines that are equally well balanced. The design concept of the EDA cutlery centres around the idea of universal usability. The aim was to create cutlery that matches well and adds to the ambience of almost any environment, including cafes and restaurants. Therefore, the cutlery is highly durable and perfectly honed to the last detail. Inspired by the shape and look of branches, this design concept manages to lend cutlery an entirely novel aesthetics – playful in appearance paired with high functional usability.
