According to the jury, the ELMER lounge chair “achieves an almost sculptural aesthetic that is emotionally appealing and invites users to sit and relax”. Intended for domestic use, the armchair owes its distinctive look to a sculptural design language inspired by balloons and other inflatable objects. The individual components of the chair follow a carefully thought-out ergonomic concept which combines a comfortably inclined backrest with generous cushioning. The biomorphic reference alludes to the Far Eastern tendency to see images in all things. Accordingly, the curved armrests are intended to resemble a loving embrace.
