App for Visually Impaired People
Eye to Ear – Gallery of Audible Images
Eye to Ear helps blind and visually impaired persons to experience visual art, such as paintings, drawings or photographs. The interface design is based on a combination of verbal image descriptions and sound interpretations which are controlled by gestures. Blind people can use the app via an integrated screen reader. Sounds and words stored in the app evoke a mental picture in the listener’s head. The design adopts a comprehensive approach, appealing simultaneously to the intellect and the emotions of the user.
