Ferrari J50

Back Download

The Ferrari J50 sports car is a very limited edition model created to commemorate the 50th anniversary since the brand started to trade officially in Japan. The design of this two-seat, mid-engine roadster marks a return to the targa body style evocative of several highly coveted Ferrari road cars of the 1970s and 1980s. Based on the current 488 Spider model, the bodywork fascinates with a strong futuristic design language that immediately captivates any beholder. Also spectacular is the converging interplay between two main guiding lines that imprint a strong dynamic appearance on the flank of the car. The slanted top edge of the window is continuous with the windscreen, while the raked black strip dramatically rises from the low-set nose until it vanishes into the air intake aft of the doors. A wide transparent pane opening up towards the rear invites to look at the 3.9-litre, 690-cv power unit. This see-through pane is made of polycarbonate and sensually shaped to symbiotically connect with the two separate roll hoops protecting the heads of driver and passenger. Boasting a design that cites the role models of the past and skilfully lends it a new aesthetic, the Ferrari J50 has emerged as a sports car of expressive sensuality and presence – it promotes an appeal that is both familiar and futuristic.

Statement by the Jury

The Ferrari J50 fascinates with a style that brings a new, highly exciting combination of flowing and striking elements into play. It showcases a dynamic, compact and tight body design. At the same time, it also conveys a sensuous lightness that challenges the viewer with subtle yet strong lines. It has emerged as an impressive balance of strength and elegance. This Ferrari thus energetically points the way for the ultimate sports car.
