In designing interior space, people tend to focus on visual aspects, yet room acoustics can also have a strong impact on our sense of well-being, even though we don’t always consciously notice it. When dining at a restaurant with poor acoustics, we have to shout to make ourselves heard, and poor acoustics in offices and classrooms have a detrimental effect on concentration. On the flip side of the coin, good acoustics improve mental and physical well-being. Flux by Feltouch is an acoustics solution with a highly decorative design. The Flux acoustic panels are available in 14 shapes and sizes for flexible integration into any spatial situation. They provide designers and architects with an opportunity to create individual patterns and visually appealing installations. Models in different lengths and a wide variety of colours offer additional flexibility, making the Flux panels suitable for home environments as well as for theatres, conference rooms and airports. The panels are made of PET felt, a material that is sustainable, has good moulding properties, is fire- and moisture-resistant and has excellent acoustics. The units can be simply affixed to walls or ceilings with hook and loop fasteners or magnets, or else implemented as suspended ceiling elements with integrated luminaires. Customers are able to choose from 39 preconfigured panels, all of which can be individually arranged into a personalised design similar to putting together a puzzle. The jury was particularly impressed by the spectacular results that can be achieved through the combination of basic elements that are remarkably simple. “The panels make a very strong and interesting visual statement on walls, and the sheer number of combination options is fantastic,” commented the jury. “This is a simple product with a big impact on the ultimate design and configuration of walls.” Flux is a product that turns something useful into something beautiful.
