Foot-Operated Door Opener

FODO

Back Download

This foot-operated door opener promotes hygiene by eliminating the need to touch potentially bacteria-contaminated door handles and thus the spreading of germs. The FODO, embedded in the bottom of the door leaf, acts as a foot-operated door opener. Initially, the pedal is vertical. However, when it is depressed with the foot, the door opens. An integrated mechanism subsequently quietly shuts the door.

Statement by the Jury

An extremely stringently designed system that fits flush with the door leaf avoids manual handling of the door or the use of electricity to open it.
