Gu Yuan – Specious Feeling

Crossing the narrow, zigzag-shaped bridge enables the area to be discovered from varying angles. Modern methods were used to lay traditional floor tiles. The purely white walls appear soft like paper, whereas the wood effect of the bamboo poles adds a sense of well-being. Natural light illuminates the premises in a way that changes with the time of day in various ways and spreads a changing but thoroughly harmonious ambience.

Statement by the Jury

The design of Gu Yuan evokes elements of a traditional Chinese garden by creating an abstract effect at first and then reinterpreting it in a contemporary way.
