Hangul (Korean Alphabet) Campaign Bench

Since 2008, Naver has launched the Hangul Campaign for six years. As part of this campaign, the vowel and consonants of Hangul, the Korean alphabet, served as inspiration for the shape of benches in a public relaxation zone in the city of Myeongdong. It opened in 2013 on the occasion of a poetry exhibition presenting the winners of “Korea’s beautiful poetry contest” held on Hangul Day in 2012. The idea was to provide visitors with an opportunity to experience and appreciate the beauty and grace of the Korean alphabet and its significance as cultural heritage. The benches themselves provide a warm, tranquil atmosphere and convey the beauty of Hangul.
