HOSOO Flagship Store

The new corporate headquarters of this textile manufacturer aim to communicate the culture of weaving and the kimono. The historic building houses a flagship store, a lounge, a gallery, a kimono salon, offices and a multipurpose room. On the principle that craftsmanship is more than just a functional skill, the reconstruction of the building was entrusted to tradesmen who are true specialists in their fields. For example, the walls of the salon area are made of rammed earth and black-ink plaster that gradually fades with time, thus creating an appealing contrast to the handcrafted gold leaf masonry fixtures, visualising the passage of time.
