Exciting materials
have always served as inspiration and basis for novel creations. The
design of Ice of Genesis was inspired by the great ice lakes found in
the Arctic. It is an innovative collection made of technological
quartz, which has been developed in an elaborate interdisciplinary
way together with COMPAC. The material shows visible fragments on its
surface that resemble those of natural stone. For the artist and
designer Arik Levy, the development of this material was both a
design process and an artistic act. For him, it embodies a fusion of
art and technology, but also an exploration of personal memories or
psychology. Unlike other collections, Ice of Genesis is not an
imitation, but an imaginary type of stone that uses familiar aspects
to connect to and enter into a dialogue with our imaginary world.
Thus, the black pieces in this collection are abstract, the red
represent the warmth of the earth, while white speak of cold. The
collection includes an extensive range of colours, designs, sizes,
thicknesses and embellishments. Technological quartz is exceptionally
durable, has the look and feel of natural quartz but offers better
performance thanks to its high resistance. Ice of Genesis can be used
for kitchen worktops, floors, walls and all types of interior
surfaces that need to withstand intensive use.

Statement by the Jury
The Ice of Genesis collection fascinates with its radiant visual appeal and the independence of its design. Born from a confluence of art and design, technological quartz here projects a new statement that challenges the viewer’s imagination in each of its possible realisations. This material is suitable for versatile interior use, as it is both highly resistant and captivating with a pleasant feel.
