In the Dark
The posters “In the Dark” convey the special situation of boys and girls who have become victims of domestic violence. Sometimes victims choose to be silent and do not dare speak out, although at night they often re-experience the pain in the form of nightmares that repeatedly leave physical and psychological scars. This “telling” silence is symbolised by a boy in the picture who is quietly yet insistently looking at the viewer. The intention is to make clear the distress that these children experience when night comes. The visual depiction of apparent tranquillity on the surface aims at conveying the pain that these children are silently hiding.
