Individual Autonomy

Back Download

Individual Autonomy explores the future of fully autonomous private vehicles. The concept questions how people occupy themselves while driven by an autonomous car, as well as the relationship between user and private vehicle. Individual Autonomy proposes that the private car of the future should provide an abundance of space where anybody can pursue their hobbies and interests inside the vehicle. To achieve this, Individual Autonomy has a modular and customisable furnishing system. The exterior can be individualised with a range of dedicated parts too. There are plans to develop collaborations between the car and the furnishing industry to fuel new business models for this concept. Individual Autonomy promises to strengthen the relationship between vehicle and user. By allowing users to furnish the car’s interior space with their own taste and wishes, it becomes a ‘third place’ – a refuge between work and home. What once represented the freedom of driving now also stands for the freedom of expression. Red Dot Award: Design Concept | Concept | Habitat
