The design of the In&Out wine packaging for the Asian market was inspired by the idea of encounter between the Western and Eastern worlds through cultural exchange. This is achieved by redefining the style using the strong and highly expressive symbolism of the carp. In the Eastern cultures, the carp is a widely revered animal, not only for its beauty and colours but also for the symbolic meanings associated with it, like perseverance and good fortune. In an “interplay” of filled and empty shapes, a three-dimensional carp has been realised with copper-coloured metal and is alternated with a similarly shaped cut in the paper. Thanks to this specific design, the two elements seem as if they were part of a Tao symbol.
