It is not a beautiful hill / mountain / island

This poster series was created with the aim of motivating people in China to reduce household waste. The three motifs show the Chinese characters for hill, mountain and island, each featuring a subtle reference to the topic of waste. For example, the traditional character for “island” in Chinese is much like a pictograph, which shows a bird standing on the top of a mountain. In this typography, the element that depicts the mountain has been replaced by rubbish bags. The vertical lettering “This is not a beautiful island” refers to the hidden criticism concerning those mountains of rubbish.
