The KUKA charging assistant carla_connect presents itself as a new development in terms of kinematics, control and image processing, and is adapted to special safety requirements and individual ambient conditions. If an electric car is parked next to the charging assistant, the vehicle’s charging connection flap opens automatically. The robot arm with its plug moves autonomously to the connection coupling by means of Wi-Fi control and optical detection by camera and charges the batteries. The well-thought-out design avoids the risk of injury.
