The LiteStepper is a wearable rehabilitation robot for systematic gait training. Its design is specially tailored to patients recovering from strokes who are affected by one-sided paralysis. The robot analyses the motion sequences of the non-affected leg and transfers them to the paralysed leg. In this way, the training is adapted to the patient’s natural gait pattern. The jury was impressed by the innovative concept that “takes into account bionic and ergonomic design principles to provide therapy that is individually tailored to each patient”.
