Lost Villa Boutique Hotel

The Lost Villa Boutique Hotel in Zhongwei, Ningxia, is situated on the banks of a river. It consists of several flat-roofed houses, terraces and courtyards that seem to blend into the surrounding countryside. To make them resemble the local architecture, the exterior facades are coated with cement mortar which gives them a deliberately old look already after a short time. Every room in the hotel has a large window with a view of the river or a small wood. Light is a key element in the interior and creates constantly changing shadow effects.

This design concept enables the architecture of the hotel to meld into its natural surroundings in a remarkably effective way.
