The Melior Faucet is the answer to the everyday problem of the tap getting in the way when washing dishes. The designers, having experienced this dilemma themselves, decided to develop a solution. The mixer tap’s simple geometric contours were inspired by the modern kitchen aesthetic of smooth, flat surfaces and elegant materials. “All design has a context-of-use factor, and in the case of a faucet fixture that’s especially true because it’s always paired with a sink,” explained the product designers. The Melior Faucet has both curved and straight elements, which is why it harmonises with any form of sink. Its unpretentiously exposed water hose is another striking feature and an “honest representation of the water path through the system,” according to the designers. It brings function from the inside to the outside and has an appealingly clean and minimalist appearance. “The Melior mixer tap looks unconventional at first glance but on closer inspection the functional interactions are surprisingly intuitive,” said the jury. “The mixer tap is a very user-friendly product that enhances the sink experience. All of the product’s convenient features are united in a high-end and meticulously engineered total package.” The Melior’s built-in Bubble90 nozzle additionally reduces water consumption by up to 80 per cent, which makes it even more appealing to consumers.
