Smart Voice Robot

Midea Home

The design of the smart voice robot Midea Home is inspired by Japanese teru teru bōzu dolls. They are said to have the magic skill of being able to invoke good weather for the following day. When given a voice command, the robot plays music, shows the weather forecast and much more. It also understands gestures and is able to identify different persons based on facial recognition technology. Moreover, it can take over the control of networked devices in the home, such as air conditioning and refrigeration.

Statement by the Jury

Its design, which was modelled after a doll, gives the voice robot a markedly playful character, which skilfully encourages users to interact with it.
