Musiac is a music recommendation service that aims to minimise the algorithm autocracy and suggest music people actually want to hear. It has a clean interface that brings clarity and control to users. It seeks to change how music recommendations are made through an interface that is ethical and helps users take back control. In Musiac, the interface is where our perception and the physical world meet. Inspired by the website ‘Every Noise at Once’, Musiac is made up of three parts. The first is a virtual database. It also has an algorithmically-generated Musical Map which represents different genres and relationships between songs. The Taste Bubble is generated from the user’s Musical Map and reflects what the user listens to as well as unexplored music territory. This Taste Bubble is interactive, allowing users to customise the recommendations they receive. Red Dot Award: Design Concept | Concept | Artificial Intelligence
