Nothing Phone (1)

Back Download

The Nothing Phone (1) combines modern technology with borrowings from non-specialist fields. The clearly visible, curved lines are inspired by Massimo Vignelli's New York subway map. A closer look reveals an elephant shape which is to be understood as a homage to the art of Enzo Mari. This design conveys playfulness and, at the same time, highlights important functions such as the wireless charging coil. The smartphone impressed the jury “because of its unique appearance and environmental friendliness”. The lightweight, robust frame is made of 100 per cent recycled aluminium, and more than 50 per cent of the plastic components are produced from bio-based or recycled materials.
