Origami for Environmental Conservation

Back Download

The work “Origami for Environmental Conservation” includes a selection of 20 structures of folded paper animals, combinations that are created based on the art of paper folding, an instruction manual on how to fold these papers, as well as an introduction and description of the 20 selected species. All the elements are further integrated into a folding paper book design that serves the function of both storage and exhibition. With its simple, child-oriented and easy-to-grasp design, this editorial publishing work gives both an insight into plus practical instructions on how to use the art of paper folding, and an overview of the paper animals that were inspired by the unique species in Taroko National Park in Taiwan. Children thus learn about these animals in a sustainable way and develop a sense of concern about the ecological environment of Taiwan. Accommodating the various elements and also made of paper, the box itself simultaneously serves as a backdrop against which the finished paper animals introduce the natural world of the country. Statement by the jury »This work represents an outstanding idea of how to playfully introduce children to the different animal species deserving protection in Taiwan: inviting children to fold 20 selected animals by themselves in origami art style, backed up by descriptions, children learn about and establish a relationship to these animals. The multifaceted set was designed with great love and convinces with a concept that is well thought out to the last detail.«
