Pocket Geiger Type 4

Back Download

Pocket Geiger is a compact radiation detector, used in connection with smartphones. It was developed after the reactor accident in Japan by engineers and scientists of the organisation Radiation-Watch.org in order to ease radiation measurement for the population. Within two minutes the device measures the radiation contamination in ambient air by means of photodiodes – the values are displayed on the smartphone and collected centrally.

Statement by the Jury

The Pocket Geiger is cost-effective and simple to use. It thus contributes to the safety of people in the affected regions.
