Bollard luminaires not only enable people to use paths in nature and in parks around the clock, they can also show them in the best possible light. Unfortunately, that is frequently at the expense of energy consumption and the environment. Light pollution presents a serious problem for flora and fauna. Polesano Bollard path lighting by DELTALIGHT, a specialist for high-quality architectural luminaires, offers a solution that is also pleasingly minimalist and striking in its design. The one-metre-high LED bollard luminaire is characterised by a captivating form made up of simple geometric components. It looks as if it has simply been put together using two poles – one short, one long – both with a diameter of 5 × 8 cm. In reality, it consists of durable, coated aluminium and is equipped with modern, intelligent lighting technology. Thanks to its high-performance optical system, the fixtures can be positioned up to ten metres apart. This means fewer luminaires are needed, thus saving energy. To suit different surroundings, the Polesano Bollard is available in three colours – Aluminium Grey, Flemish Bronze and Anthracite – and in two versions with different brightness levels and light colours: 397 lumens/2,700 kelvin (warm white) or 433 lumens/3,000 kelvin (bright warm white) with a slightly cooler appearance. All the luminaires can be flexibly controlled and dimmed in accordance with the DALI standard. A special feature of the system is optional nature-centric lighting. This third version of the bollard luminaire produces a warm 3,000 kelvin light at dusk and is tailored to increased pedestrian activity. At night, it switches to minimal red light that still ensures paths are sufficiently well lit while protecting the nighttime ecosystem. The low-current LEDs eliminate blue light and in this way minimise the impact on the nocturnal vision of amphibians, birds, insects and mammals. “The Polesano Bollard path light blends an impressively minimalist stylistic idiom with cutting-edge lighting technology and is an ideal solution for sustainable, environmentally friendly lighting,” the jury decided.
