Shape in time

Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, founder of Porsche Design, expressed his ideas of consistent design through an innovative, understated design language. To this day, concepts are straightforward, purist, and uncompromisingly functional. This philosophy is particularly evident in the 1919 Collection. In order to display the time for intuitive reading from every angle, the radius of the dial is as large as possible. In addition, a notably slim titanium case was created with distinctive minute indices positioned at the outer edges of the dial, boldly foregoing the need for a tachymeter bezel. The well-balanced design lends this watch a high sense of visual lightness, which is further enhanced by the elegantly proportioned strap. As an expression of functionality-oriented creative design, the lugs are connected to the clasp over the entire surface to achieve a uniform force distribution and thus higher stability, durability and ergonomics. The colour scheme in a deep hue of brown lends the 1919 Chronotimer Flyback Brown & Leather a decidedly contemporary touch, without compromising its timeless-looking characteristics. The innovative wristwatch concept is rounded off by the first own developed Porsche Design Caliber Werk 01.200 movement, which is equipped with a technically sophisticated flyback function.

Statement by the Jury

This watch impressively embodies the intellectual inheritance of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. The design incorporates a subtle and harmonious composition of materials, colours and surfaces, processed to the highest technical standards. The individual elements are perfectly related in their functionality. Also well designed in terms of ergonomics, the housing showcases a sense of lightness that is visually appealing and pleasant to the touch.
