The objective of SITEWASP drone is to remotely provide stakeholders with construction updates, thus unifying the planning process and the building process. SITEWASP enables architects, engineers and construction managers to connect to the construction site through constant digital updates. This 3D drone system scans, measures, analyses and documents with high-resolution images the current state and process of construction. It uses the digital BIM (Building Information Model) so that all remote stakeholders can react directly to crucial errors and differences, which leads to a more synchronised and efficient workflow. The SITEWASP drone automatically launches from the mobile charging box and scans selected areas. Thanks to its circular design, internal sensors and cameras have a 200° rotation and view, which enables direct scans of both horizontal and vertical surfaces—all done without changing its position, leading to more scanning efficiency. SITEWASP is also able to cover areas that are especially difficult for manual measuring like elevator tunnels. Through its awareness of external objects, it can work both in the day and at night, assisted by a front light that follows the movement of the camera. Safety is emphasised through the rotor mesh protection, reflector colours, an emergency turn-off button, and lights. The digital desktop software and app enables the drone to be controlled and to receive commands remotely. On the construction site, the digital aspect of the system enables construction workers to find the exact problem areas, providing stakeholders with complete transparency of the process. Ultimately this leads to higher quality control and a faster, safer and cost-reduced construction process. Red Dot Award: Design Concept | Concept | Industry
