In order to raise awareness of the stories behind the winning pictures of the 2015 World Press Photo Awards, the World Press Photo Speaking Images were developed: a book where every printed image turned into a fully printed loudspeaker. This technique works by placing three polymer layers and one electrical conductive sheet between two laminated photo pages. Upon binding, power is transmitted between the conductive sheet causing the polymers to vibrate, enacting a sound. This way, authentic sounds can be showcased and an emotional soundtrack is connected to the photography.
