The poster announces a fictitious music festival held in the forests near Black Mountain, North Carolina, a region famous for its black bears. Since acoustic guitars are often heard in Appalachian mountain music, a bear’s snout resembling a guitar became the hallmark of the design. The local motif with handwritten lettering characterises the festival as down-to-earth. Moreover, the plain, handmade look highlights the unpretentious, family-friendly atmosphere of the event.
