The peculiar shine of the material silicon carbide inspired the name of the collection “Sternenstaub” (stardust), whose unique feature is the unusual combination of two materials: 18-carat yellow gold and silicon carbide, a ceramic that is fired at 2,500-degrees centigrade for five days. Moreover, the name hints at a connection to our galaxy. Silicon carbide is used in the heat shields that protect spacecraft on their re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere. The collection includes a ring, earrings, and pendants in two different sizes.
