“Tap to go” is a new digital retail solution by Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn. Customers tap their smartphone or “Tap to go” card against a product’s digital price tag and then take it off the shelf. The product is automatically added to the virtual shopping cart in the user-friendly app, giving customers an overview of their purchases at all times. In addition, the app also gives information on current discount campaigns. At the end of their shopping, the cost is automatically deducted from a bank account linked to their “Tap to go” account.
