The Float

When the decision was taken to construct a real estate sales centre in the downtown area of Xiamen, an architectural concept was needed for both the interior and surrounding area. The result was the “Float” concept which consists of a two-storey sales centre which seems to be suspended in water above a multi-level pool. Visitors walk over the large expanse of water, through the sales office on the ground floor and up the staircase at the rear to the sales area on the first floor.

Statement by the Jury

The building’s attractive construction makes it the dominant feature of its surroundings. The transparent steel structure combines nature, technology, lightness and gravity in an impressive way.
