The Serpentine Eco-Bridge

Back Download

The Serpentine Eco-Bridge takes a sustainable approach, utilising natural resources and eco-friendly construction to minimise its ecological impact while maximising functionality and aesthetic appeal. The serpentine shape of this bridge allows for a maximum length within the buildable area while limiting disturbance to the local animal and plant habitat. This design approach also provides pedestrians with a more extended natural and educational experience while crossing the bridge.

This eco-bridge has several distinguishing features that set it apart as an innovative design. The sectional design has a wedged form that is ideal for plant depth and rainwater collection. The centre-column structure reduces the impact on the ground during construction, preserving the natural ecosystem. The materials and manufacturing processes used in The Serpentine Eco-Bridge were carefully chosen to prioritise sustainability and environmental friendliness. Lastly, green-concrete — a sustainable alternative to traditional concrete — is used for the structure to reduce the carbon footprint.
