The Words of Bamboo

For centuries, Chinese artisans have used bamboo, a native and fast growing resource, to produce sturdy umbrella frames. This umbrella advances the classic umbrella concept to meet the requirements of mass production: the shaft and rods are made of a bamboo composite, which is very easy to process in an industrial manner. In addition, a special bamboo-split technique was developed for this model.

Statement by the Jury

United in this umbrella are traditional form, natural materials and new technology, resulting in a product of refined elegance, which imparts unobtrusive yet distinctive and self-contained aesthetics.
