Z-Bar Titan 

Light is more than a luminaire, and a luminaire is more than light. The Z-Bar Titan is a distinctive, almost sculptural floor lamp designed to be a statement piece that does not overwhelm the interior space. A slender silhouette with harmonious proportions, a precisely balanced base, and an almost invisibly integrated control mechanism all contribute to the lamp’s astonishing elegance – despite its imposing height of 2.13 metres and width of 1.98 metres. The designers were inspired by “the pure simplicity of a single line in space, much like a brushstroke in calligraphy”. Their intention was to create a luminaire that could foster focus but also inspire creativity. In the evaluation process, the Red Dot jury members immediately envisaged a lighting scenario in which Z-Bar Titan could really come into its own: “The lamp’s flexibility, ductility and linear extension make it ideal for use in large residential or office spaces where light has to reach the centre of a generously sized table or worktop.” Z-Bar Titan owes its versatility to an innovative concealed mechanism that enables the user to effortlessly reposition the entire lamp. The LED head is also rotatable to switch between downlight, uplight and angled light effects. Z-Bar Titan also incorporates a dimmer function for enhanced user convenience. It effortlessly blends into residential, office and public spaces and can be adjusted in brightness to offer different lighting scenarios – from task lighting for productivity to soft, ambient illumination for dining. “The various mechanisms to adjust the positioning of the luminaire in indoor space, as well as the refined materials and precise workmanship, make Z-Bar Titan a highly elegant and functional solution,” was the verdict of the jurors. Even people who see lamps as purely functional objects will acknowledge Z-Bar Titan as a stylish furniture item. The crisp geometry of the bountiful lamp lends it an understated elegance, and its illuminating statement enhances the surrounding space.
