Red Dot: What is the philosophy behind GRAPUR?
GRAPUR is a project that combines sustainability and creativity. Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the desire to respect nature with organic viticulture and, at the same time, to translate the wine aesthetic into a contemporary language. It isn’t just a product – it is a manifesto for responsible innovation, emotional storytelling and environmental awareness.
What are the biggest challenges of organic viticulture?
It requires tireless dedication. When dispensing with synthetic chemicals and opting for a natural solution, every single stage of the cultivation process, from soil tilling to pest control, is done manually. The unpredictability of the climate, the complexity of disease prevention and the need to preserve biodiversity make this approach challenging, yet it is a challenge that we are happy to accept in the spirit of our mission: to produce wine that is healthier and more authentic, as well as to support the regeneration of the ecosystem and rural communities.
Sustainability is also an important aspect of your packaging …
Yes, for one thing, we decided to use ocean-bound plastic (OBP) corks from Vinventions. They are made from recycled plastic that is collected before it reaches the sea, reflecting GRAPUR’s commitment to a circular economy and protecting the planet. A lightweight bottle is also used that significantly reduces carbon emissions along the entire supply chain. It is the Bordeaux Air 300G bottle, currently the lightest 75 cl Bordeaux bottle on the market. This innovation not only reduces energy consumption during production and transport; it also showcases the fact that premium design and sustainability can go hand in hand.
