Red Dot: What kind of scenarios did you have in mind when you developed the Vasco Translator E1?

The Vasco Translator E1 simplifies communication in various spontaneous or planned conversational situations. In professional contexts, such as business meetings, customer service interactions or doctors appointments with up to ten people, each participant can use their own earbud for simultaneous translations and continuous dialogue. The device is also suitable for spontaneous situations, such as the need to communicate in the local language when travelling. The Vasco Translator E1 is additionally an asset in the healthcare sector or during medical emergencies when speed, clarity and hands-free operation are crucial. Another area of application where contactless functionality comes in handy is real-time translation during presentations or at public events.

What were the basic considerations during the development process?

We decided to focus on enabling natural and intuitive communication. Our other priorities were hygiene, comfort and user-friendliness. The over-ear hook provides a very comfortable fit and is easy to clean, balancing technical sophistication with beautiful simplicity. The device can be additionally personalised by selecting LED colours and language preferences. 

Is the Vasco Translator E1 a good example of how AI makes life easier?

Absolutely. It overcomes language barriers with advanced speech recognition (ASR) and machine translation (MT) to facilitate natural conversations in real time and in up to 64 languages. The Vasco Translator E1 also features smart AI adaptation that enhances translation accuracy and responsiveness across various speech patterns and environments.
