„Formosa Forms”: exhibition on Taiwanese design trends stops by in Vienna

After stopping by in the German cities of Essen and Munich, the Red Dot Design Museum will present „Formosa Forms“ in Austria from 29 April 2015. Using selected Taiwanese designs, the exhibition at designforum Wien documents current design developments in the fields of lifestyle and technology. About 100 exhibits illustrate the contemporary design understanding of the West Pacific insular state which was once called “Ilha Formosa” (beautiful island). They show the contrast as well as the symbiosis of tradition and modernity. All of the drafts stand for prizewinning design - they were decorated with the Red Dot or the Golden Pin Design Award.

Among the well-shaped objects, which document the know-how of Taiwanese manufacturers and designers, rank bicycles and corresponding accessories, innovations from the fields of computer technology and mobile communications, lamps, lifestyle products and achievements of the life science industry. The exhibition is completed by communication projects.

The vernissage takes place at the designforum Wien on Tuesday, 28 April 2015 at 6.30 p.m. On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition, which was commissioned by the Taiwan Design Center, the welcome speeches will be held by Severin Filek, CEO designaustria, Vito Oražem, Managing Director and Curator Red Dot Design Museum, and Christina Schösser, Regional Director Far East and Oceania at Aussenwirtschaft Austria, and Simon Gong, Director Economic Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office. The opening provides an inspiring setting for networking and exchange on the latest design developments in the different industries.
