Red Dot Design Ranking 2015 for design concepts

The Red Dot Design Ranking honours innovative leaders for their pursuance of design excellence, based on the cumulative achievements in the Red Dot Award: Design Concept over the past five years. The ranking consists of four distinct honorary lists for “Companies”, “Design Studios” as well as “Universities” from Europe, America, and Asia-Pacific.

In 2015, kt (KT Corporation) from South Korea is topping and maintaining the first rank in the category for “Companies”. For the fourth time in a row, Emami Design from Germany is defending the first place in the category for “Design Studio”. The Chinese Zhejiang University is leading the ranking in the category for “Universities” in Asia-Pacific, the Art Center College of Design from the United States is heading the ranking in the category for “Universities” in Europe and America.

“Red Dot is one of the most important awards you can receive as an industrial designer. The neutral and factual assessment by the expert jury of Red Dot provides confirmation that is objective and definitely has more weight than your own subjective evaluation“, says Arman Emami, Managing Director of Emami Design, Germany.

The South Korean company Hankook Tire Co Ltd, ROBRADY design from the US, and Dalian Nationalities University from China are newly ranked among the honour lists. Their winning concepts “Boostrac”, “FORTIS Human Powered Exoskeleton”, and “OXYGENE” were bestowed with the Red Dot: Best the of the Best and are also nominated for the Red Dot: Luminary - the highest single distinction of the award.

“We are immensely proud to be recognised by the prestigious Red Dot Design Award based on our efforts to bring design innovation. We will continue to develop future oriented tire design for contributing design and driving industries", says Mr Ho Kyung Oh, Managing Director of Hankook Tire Design Team.

This year, a total of 344 winning concepts emerged from 31 categories with 4,680 entries from 61 countries. Since its inauguration in 2005, the Red Dot Award: Design Concept presents three classes of awards to the best design concepts of the year: the Red Dot, the Red Dot: Best of the Best, and the highest single accolade, the Red Dot: Luminary.

On 25 September, the winners of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2015 will be honoured during the impressive awards ceremony in the Red Dot Design Museum Singapore.
