Aerial Couch Top

With the objective of optimising the treatment result of proton therapy, the Aerial Couch Top was developed. For this purpose, the system is equipped with a tailored locking mechanism that allows the base part to be connected form-fittingly with a variety of extensions. The result is a cantilever construction that seems to float in the air and makes rails or other obstructions underneath redundant. The jury was fascinated by the solution, which “represents an impressive symbiosis of construction and design, by means of which this kind of therapy can be simplified and made safer”.
