The aim of this project is to interpret the Russian tale “Vasilisa the Beautiful” from the Baba Yaga saga. The main illustration focuses on the girl Vasilisa encountering three riders who bring the night, morning and day on her way to Baba Yaga’s hut. The incident is visualised in a highly entertaining way which reflects the mysterious feel of the story. Each detail in the illustration is carefully chosen in order to reflect Slavic folk motifs and an Eastern European scenery.
