Basdban is the name of a café in Shanghai and means “very good” in the dialect of Chengdu. The brand design features a custom-made typeface that was deliberately written by hand to create an air of freedom and rebelliousness. Each letter was designed in different variations, allowing for flexible use. The high degree of creativity is also evident in the typographic arrangement on various advertising materials, menus and merchandising items. The monochrome implementation emphasises the individual style and projects a distinctive and highly recognisable visual identity.
